Be careful if you are considering buying this.. Samsung has been sending out firmware updates that are bricking a lot of sound bars and then play dumb when people are calling in for warranty service. Do your due diligence and research so you can take steps towards preventing that happening to you.

never connected my 990D to the internet. never will. firmware updates for what? it produces surround sound and picks up Atmos and DTSX correctly. i have mine in a guest room now. it was ok for that time i used it. i keep it as a backup just in case. currently using an onkyo rz30 with klipsch speakers.

Separate components aren't practical in this point in my life, but I'm getting a small taste of what you are experiencing with my Klipsch Flexus Core 300 powered by Onkyo.
