So basically $220 for motherboard, 16gb ram and AIO. Yea that's not a deal lol. Especially considering this is ddr4. They are trying so hard to sell this processor at the ridiculous $300 price.

For a new build in 2026? I'd go for the 7700x3d bundle that newegg has going on now for $20 more.

Getting a 5800x3d is arguably not a good buy today unless you have a rig that is a am4 cpu swap only.

If you have a Micro Center, skip all this. You want the 7600X3D bundle, which was a steal at $350, but is still under these inflated newegg prices at whatever they have it for this week.

It's not the "cheapest" option—but it's great for a 1440p AAA gaming rig. Dunno what your circumstances are, but if you don't need a gaming CPU, then getting something that's a non-x3d would be what you want.

The only people that should be buying a 5800X3D chip are people who already have an AM4 system with a 2000 or 3000 series CPU in it, like the popular 3600. The CPU upgrade is woth it if you already have a motherboard and enough RAM on it.

If you are building a new system, go ahead and buy a 7000 series rig.

The price/performance just still doesn't make sense.

If you have a MC nearby, the 7500x3d combo they have available will outperform this for $120 less. If you don't, the 7700x3d will outperform this by an even bigger margin for a similar price. Or you could slap something together around a 7500f for >$500 even accounting for more expensive RAM. Or even a 9600X, which will outperform this CPU in all but the most multithreaded tasks.

And if you aren't an enthusiast and just want to dip your toe into pc gaming without spending much, you are going to get better value building a system around a cheaper single-CCD AM4 processor which at this point is any of them.

There is no target audience where this bundle makes sense.
