I think the scaremongering about erythritol is completely ridiculous, but still, this product is deceptively labeled and that's reason enough to avoid it.

This "Monk Fruit" sweetener is actually less than 1% monk fruit. A better alternative is an Allulose + Stevia / Monk Fruit Blend. Whole Earth is highly recommended.

Here we go again with this erythritol nonsense. The internet is like a big echo chamber of nonsense and bogus nutritional information. There is zero evidence that dietary erythritol is bad for your heart, you won't have a stroke from it, and it's perfectly fine in moderation. You might get an upset stomach if you eat too much, but that applies to any sugar alcohol.

With that said, it is probably like 99% plus erythritol by volume, so get on it all you want about it being called monk fruit in the raw. I'd still buy it for the right price, but that's me.

From my understanding, that's not really the big problem. It's more that stuff is so insanely sweet that it has to be cut with something else in order to be used in a format like this. No one wants a packet that only has a handful of crystals in it and believe it's the equivalent of a pack of sugar. So it gets cut with Erythritol which only has about 70% the sweetness of sugar.

There is some but it's more anecdotal. The initial test had a lot of flaws, such as using a group of people that likely already had some form of heart problems. (Smokers, overweight etc) There was another study with a much smaller sample size that pointed to this information being accurate, but pretty sure, as you suggest, the jury is still out. Furthermore, you likely have to be consuming a lot of this, all of the time.

Not to mention it was blood erythritol that was studied, something we all make naturally, especially people with heart disease. Dietary erythritol had nothing to do with the study from like 5 years ago that people constantly love to fearmonger with.

Yep. Very accurate. The name of the product isn't great for what you're getting, but this is exactly why it's mostly erythritol.
