Use the existing phone and text TRANSFER to 611611, it will confirm and ask for new phone IMEI, once complete check balances on account. After about 10-15 minutes, do the same on the new phone via text and it will move back to the original phone with combined balances. Just did it yesterday.

When activating the phone, select that you want to transfer your existing number. The minutes/texts/data/service time in the bundle will be added to the existing balance when the service is transferred to the new phone. Wait a day, and repeat with the second phone. If you want to go back to your original phone, then wait another day, and reactivate that phone.

This bundle is mainly useful as cheap Tracfone service and a possible harvest source, not as a daily phone. The A03 is very slow, runs old Android 11, and is best kept for calls, texts, or transferring the included year of service and 1,500 minutes, texts, and data to another line. Activation can be finicky, with some orders missing the plan or needing seller or Tracfone support to attach it. The safest takeaway is that the service value is the draw, while the phones themselves are dated and limited.

  • People harvesting Tracfone service onto an existing line, because the bundled plans can stack and add minutes, texts, data, and service time.

    sdandygreenhandleScArFaCeejohnnyblades

  • Household backup-phone users, because the phones can be kept for basic calling and texting while the service time extends an existing number.

    BGRTlou2004JohnT1301oregon14

  • Buyers willing to activate one phone now and hold the other for later, because the second activation can be delayed and still extend service when timed correctly.

    sdhl2016sdfooanjentaiafrugalfather

  • People who want a cheap way to extend an existing Tracfone line, because the bundle can add a year of service and the included minutes can carry over.

    Mark2276chanwmrsdhl2016LowRoller

  • Shoppers who need guaranteed included airtime on both phones, because some orders arrived with no plan on one or both devices and required returns or support.

    NavyRiver1762shruiikenForgottenWallLanster23

  • Anyone wanting a reliable everyday smartphone, because the A03 is very slow and apps can lag or fail to install on its outdated Android version.

    BGRTNoDajohnnybladesoregon14

  • People who need a hassle-free activation, because online activation can fail and sometimes requires chat, phone, or seller intervention to attach the plan.

    sdandyjoseattgone_campingTodayOnly

  • Buyers expecting to move the service back and forth without risk, because transferring too early can wipe out minutes, texts, or data and leave the account in limbo.

While that makes logical sense to you and me when it comes to TF they don't learn their lesson. Several years ago they had a deal on preloaded sim cards but they shipped empty sims instead. Even after buyers reported having problems they kept selling them & TF support didn't have a clue (they tried to deny that TF even had an eBay website). Everyone eventually got refunds but it was a mess for several weeks, SD had page after page of buyers complaining.
Oregon is right. Customer service these days is horrible. I just had unbelievably horrible experience with mint mobile and FedEx customer service. These people just do absolute bare minimum to collect a paycheck. They don't care about fixing their mistakes. Unless maybe if their job is on the line.

Unusual problems (like this one) require an experienced rep and they're hard to find. Most phone support is overseas and they're not actual customers of the company they work for so the only thing they understand is what's in the company manual - if it's not covered there they have no clue.

I have always just put the second/last SIM in my original phone instead of transferring it back. I know ppl have cautioned against that because they got their phone disconnected, but I've done it the last 3 or 4 times & it's worked fine. I actually use my phone daily for texting, so maybe inactivity was their issue & not harvesting?
Basic stuff like voice and text may work. Problem is verifying the account/data may not because they're still showing a different IMEI (phone serial) on their side. There are some services that are provisioned differently depending on the hardware you are using.

It's not that difficult to transfer the line to another phone online.

The donor phones will still be locked after one year?

Yes, all phones require year of active service on the phone to qualify - but these are already so outdated they wouldn't be worth anything by the time they unlock. They were very basic phones even when they were first released 4 yrs ago.

There are reports on other forums of donor phones still having automatically unlocked under the previous policy after 60 days even though the service had been transferred away from the device. (For example, see https://www.howardforums.com/thre...t-17319036 where the poster claims the first device was active for only 20 days but still unlocked). With the new 365-day policy requiring an explicit request to unlock, that might no longer be the case. In any case, you should assume it won't unlock since the official policy is that it needs to be active.

Both of my phones each had 1 year of service and all the minutes text data. Just finished transfering the balances to my existing line.

Thank you for the update. I hope mine will be the same. I also wish there were a way to know for sure without activating both phones, since I only need to activate one for now. I would like to keep the other one for close to a year before activating it.

Why? You can add it to whatever service you have now & it will extend the service - there's no reason to wait till it expires. Better to add now in case there's a problem.

I also bought the Samsung A16 deal, which takes a year to unlock. I do want the extended service with one of the phone here, but after unlocking the Samsung phone first.

Both of my phones had 1 year of service.
Now to figure out what to do with two outdated phones that I don't want or need.

They are indeed outdated phones. I might use one more or less as a single-use phone, meaning I would uninstall all the non-essential apps except the one I need. The phone may run okay that way.
