and it's a great phone
make sure you turn off the stupid RAM PLUS option in ONE settings, it will double your speed
Settings > Device care > Memory > RAM Plus
Toggle OFF and restart phone
The phone is pathetically slow even with all junk removed. The reason is simple - 4gb RAM is not enough for an Android in 2026.
Community Reviews
This renewed Galaxy A16 5G bundle stands out as a cheap way to get a year of Tracfone service and a basic Samsung phone for light use or emergency backup. The long security support through October 2030 is a real plus, and the phone can feel faster if Samsung RAM Plus is turned off and the device is restarted. The main drawback is performance, since the 4GB RAM and modest processor are repeatedly described as very slow. The renewed unit also arrives in a plain white box, and Tracfone service may require periodic activity to keep the line active.
Buyers who want a long-lived secondary line, because the service timeline runs to October 2030 and the phone can be kept active with occasional use.
Light users who want a basic backup phone, because it works fine for emergencies and can stay in a glovebox until needed.
People replacing an older budget Android for everyday light use, because it can feel perfectly adequate and has a long security-update window.
People who can disable Samsung RAM Plus and reboot, because that setting can improve speed on this phone.
People who need a fast main phone, because 4GB RAM and the processor can make app launches painfully slow.
People who want a full-time daily driver, because it can feel annoying compared with using it only as an emergency phone.
People with sensitive eyes, because the screen has PWM flickering that can become uncomfortable.
Buyers expecting the included service to activate without extra steps, because activation can require a plan PIN or buying a plan.
