Total Wireless's $20 BYOD plan stands out for unlimited priority data on Verizon, unlimited hotspot at 5 Mbps, and international roaming that includes 10 GB plus calling to many countries. The deal also carries a 5 year price lock on the base rate, with taxes and fees included, and some accounts can stack rewards or home internet discounts. The main catches are that new customers usually need to port in from another carrier, the first month can bill at $30, and the promo price depends on autopay and eligibility. Customer service and porting problems are the biggest recurring concern, so it fits best if you want low monthly cost and can tolerate some setup friction.

Common Questions (5)

  • The first month is $30, then it drops to $20 per month with Auto Pay. The checkout can show $55 until the promo and Auto Pay discount fully apply, so the lower price may not appear immediately.

  • Yes. The plan includes unlimited hotspot capped at 5 Mbps, plus international roaming with 10 GB of data and calling coverage to 200+ countries. It also includes 5G UW and is often described as a strong option for frequent travelers.

  • The 5-year guarantee applies to the qualifying plan and base price, not necessarily to every promotional discount shown at checkout. Auto Pay and BYOD requirements must stay active, and the phone itself does not have to stay the same device for the full term.

  • Yes, Total Wireless can activate eSIM on compatible phones. Several signups completed with eSIM QR activation, and switching phones with a physical SIM can be immediate with no billing change.

  • Yes. The $20 BYOD promo is for new customers who port in from another carrier; Google Voice and existing Total/Total by Verizon lines do not qualify. Total Wireless also treats a new customer as someone who has not activated Total service in the last 90 days.

Still on the Tmobile to Total deal. $15/month /phone. Still have a few years left. My only complaint is that the coverage near my house is hit-and-miss. Works most of the time but the data is really slow when in the living room. At&t has the best data speed, then Tmobile and lastly, Verizon. Best price worst data speeds.

FYI when you go onto their website it clearly statesOn the Total MAX 5G BYO Plan with Auto Pay. First month $30, then $20/mo after. So be warned that you're paying $30 for the first month.
Still arguably the best deal on the Verizon network for unlimited priority data. Visible's high tier annual plan is on sale for the equivalent of $19/mo and is slightly better but you have to pay for a year upfront. However I hear Visible's customer service is way better than Total

What a load of crap. I originally bought my phone from Tracfone and after one year it was unlocked and used on another carrier. I tried to sign up for this deal and after two hours struggling with their app and website I finally called them. After 12 minutes in the phone they told me phones purchase from TracFone are not eligible as BYOD.

Is Disney+ included in this deal? I activated my line on 8/27 with a new number and TW SIM card that I purchased (no need to port my own number). The monthly payment showed as $16/month at first then they adjusted to $20 due on 9/26. Today I received an email asking me to activate Disney+

I see Disney+ listed only under Total All Access $60 plan. I doubt the Total MAX 5G gets Disney+. My old Total 5G Unlimited (the equivalent of MAX 5G) did get Disney+ if it means anything to you.

This current deal supposedly ends today, August 31st. I asked the same question 2-3 weeks ago.

Whether this deal will be extended, I don't know. Anyone has insider info?

Part of me is asking the same question so that I can procrastinate to this. However, my daughter is currently on Tello's $25/month plan and my long term plan is to move her to Total Wireless. We travel to the UK, Canada, Japan, and possibly other counties at least once or twice a year. Our plans include international data and roaming. It doesn't seem like a huge deal but it's definitely a great convenience of not having to buy a data eSIM.

$20/month is a great deal. Some of us jumped on the Total Wireless bandwagon 2 years ago on the deal for the Unlimited 5G (MAX 5G equivalent) $15/month plan. I could be wrong but $20/month has been the best deal since, imho. I'll likely complete the switch this evening so that I can put this thing behind me.

Thanks. For what it's worth, I didn't wait either. Both my wife (from Visible) and I (from Mint) have successfully ported over to Total for the $20 monthly plan and it's looking great so far!

9:05pm on 08/31/2026, the deal is still up. A quick bump for some who may still be interested. Not sure if the deal continues on or it's just a time zone situation. I'm placing my order as I type...

For those who are signing up:
  1. I had a hard time completing the checkout on the Safari browser of my phone. I ended up repeating the process on a computer browser. It went through just fine, around 9:30pm Pacific.
  2. My current carrier is Tello. When I filled out my order, I had to choose "other" as the carrier. I hope it doesn't have trouble completing the porting request. I'll report back how long it'll take to get the eSIM confirmation via text.
Update: I was so dumb. Immediately after the order was placed, I was shown a QR code, which would ultimately activate my Total Wireless eSIM. I did get an email from Tello within 15 minutes that my account with them was ported out and therefore terminated.

Have a great evening everyone.

Ported over as soon as this offer came,

This has been so far so good, coming from ATT
was paying $43 for ATT, this is less than half.

But i do have spotty coverage at my area, so using Wifi Calling is god send.

My work place has UW, whih gives speeds of 1.3TB, even faster than my home fiber lol.

I've had TW for 2 years. It offers great values. Generally, great speed and coverage. AND overseas data and roaming is awesome! For me, the only downside is that TW is perhaps second or even third tier on the Verizon network. Actual Verizon users/subscribers get priority to use the cell towers in a congested space. I was a concert at SoFi Stadium and separately at a high school cross country race (with 100+ participating schools)) I barely got any data. Messages came in super slow.
