I have eneloops from 2013 that I bought at Costco. AA and AAA and every single one still works well. Made in Japan vs China is a huge difference.

I've tried the Tenergy ones because it got a good review from wire cutter. They are only so so.

I might have to get this -- buy once cry once.

Used to get Ikea Ladda's but they've gotten so expensive these eneloops are cheaper.

8% off old tech batteries isn't that great or slick. But if you can happily use 1.2 volt they are decent. For me they make an expensive so so remote control battery. Maybe if I had my old tape player from back in the day but even then I'd use 1.5 volt lithium. But that's when I really really would have appreciated them trying to use the original everready's and such that degraded really fast. I've also experienced more of the hey why won't mine take a good charge after 10 years while other people claim theirs are still going strong. I've been using AAA batteries and AA batteries less and less as they are being phased out for lithium cells by manufacturers.

I have to agree here. I used to buy these a lot ten years ago, but most smart home tech these days explicitly state they need 1.5v to run properly. Devices won't report battery percentages correctly and just die generally faster with these.

The EBL AA's are OK, the ones I bought four years ago, anyway. However, stay far, far away from EBL AAA's. I was ripped off - I bought an 8 pack with a charger for $40, one of the worst purchases I've ever made on Amazon. I bought them because I had good luck with their AA's, but it turns out the AAA's are total garbage. I didn't even get around to using them, they leaked in the unopened package and out of 8, only 3 survived. I didn't discover this until past the return window - lesson learned. I, of course, put up photos and a negative review, but it was ignored by the mfgr. and now they're no longer available on Amazon (wonder why?). Other people as well posted the same thing, so many that I'm sure no one would buy them any more. I'm still pissed at EBL about this, and as I said, the AA's are working OK I can't recommend buying them due to my experience. YMMV.

Look up Coastportland - they are known for their flashlights and some tools. However, they have rechargeable lithium-ion batteries too, with innovative design and top-notch quality. Lithium ion and Nimh batteries have different uses. Nimh batteries usually have a longer shelf life. You can charge them and they'll preserve 80%+ power a year later. Li-ion usually loses power in a few months.

True in Nimh not true in lithium they have great shelf life.

Is the fact they are rechargeable make a difference?

I have several in the fridge and freezers running temperature sensors.
(size AA)

Also Nimh is 1.2 volts Rechargeable Lithium is 1.5 if you have a good charger.
