This Klipsch package is a 5.1.2 home theater setup that stands out for clear dialogue, crisp movie delivery, and strong impact for the money. The horn-loaded sound is often described as bright and V shaped, which can feel shouty or fatiguing at higher volume, though careful tuning, Dirac, or an Onkyo receiver can soften that edge. The included sub is considered entry level, and Klipsch Reference is often treated as a lower rung than Reference Premier. It is a solid fit if you want an affordable surround system and do not mind dialing it in.
Proper tuning and EQ, including Dirac or built-in Klipsch modes, can significantly reduce harshness and improve integration.
The Energy 5.0 package can deliver a more neutral, laid-back sound signature for both movies and music.
Klipsch setups can provide clear dialog and crisp movie delivery when paired with the right calibration and AVR features.
The Energy RC series approach can produce a relatively flat, well-composed home theater sound when paired with a subwoofer.
Klipsch sound can become shouty, fatiguing, and very V-shaped due to an upward-sloping house curve.
Klipsch horn tweeters are described as known for harshness, which may not suit every listener preference.
The included Klipsch subwoofer is described as entry-level, and it may benefit from upgrading to a higher-end sub.
Klipsch powered sub amplifiers reportedly fail shortly after warranty expiration, with drivers remaining fine.

I have Dirac which makes a huge difference with Klipsch. The Onkyo RZ series even has built in Klipsch settings which helps as well.
I would suggest sticking to towers, quality ones offer quality bass for most content ime.
One benefit, it saves you from possibly needing/getting a sub.
Not to mention proper integration can be tricky.
Done inappropriately, it can dominate the content.

Some music that is heavily processed is going to suffer. But things that are live recordings and such are incredibly detailed. Basically, they are ruthless to bad recordings.
but the last of this line i listened to was a version over 10 years ago. maybe they cheaped out on parts.
Klipsch has a sound that doesn't sell at regular price. That's why you can get a 7.2 system for $399. 🤷
