Acer shipped it without packaging materials so by the time FedEx delivered it, the GPU had literally been torn out of the motherboard.
I asked Acer to swap it for another one and they told me I'd have to return and rebuy (at a much higher price).
I shipped it back and then they just…didn't issue a refund. I had to get eBay involved to get them to force the refund because Acer just kept stalling and not sending the funds.
I'd personally avoid Acer refurbs in the future based on the experience.

The root cause was Intel shipping these chips with default voltage/power settings that were too aggressive. Under sustained load, the chips were running at voltages that caused electromigration damage to the processor over time — essentially the chip physically degrades at the silicon level. Intel acknowledged this and issued a microcode patch (August 2024) that corrects the voltage settings going forward. The patch prevents further degradation but cannot repair damage already done. And you have no idea if the PC you get is using an non-updated chip. Sometimes the issue happens in year 3, so beyond the Allstate Warranty period.
At this amount of money, I don't want a possible hw failure and having to replace a chip.
One could buy this now and see if a better deal comes up Labor Day, since this is 30 day returns and seller pays, although the comment above re: Acer being a pain to get a refund on a defective machine doesn't sit well.
