Ugh wife wants one of these. Must be a trend. Hard to justify this being a value in my mind. Why is a coffee machine worth 400?

cause you can use whole beans instead of ground. and also instead of pods. now I have all the machines and just went to europe and bought 1500 pods. but . still this machine trumps

It's an espresso machine. After going to espresso drinks I can't go back to watery American drip coffee machines. This is cheap by espresso superauto standards. Be glad she doesn't want a $2000 Jura.

Same man. Same. She wanted to have a talk this past weekend about us "investing in a hobby that we can both enjoy."

I'm completely lost when it comes to this, I barely started drinking coffee so I don't know the difference either. Either way, this is not available for delivery to my location so I guess we'll have to wait.

I originally wanted something cheap but an upgrade on my old Nespresso. Looked at this guy and thought it was a reasonable machine vs. the more popular Breville semi-automatic. Then the 500. And now I've had my Bosch 800 series for over a year and absolutely love it. If the 300 / 500 series has the same brew group as the 800, then I'd absolutely recommend as it should taste relatively the same. I wanted one of these machines in 2021 and did the math but it didn't work out at the time for 1 person to spend $1200, but now with at least 3 people, it totally works out. At $400, 1 person could justify the machine as well.

Paid about $1200 for the 800 series (not sale at the moment though)

Based on the onboard diagnostics, I've put about 800 cups through it including various things like Cold Brew / Ristrestto, various lattes / cappuccino's and can even download new drinks. Absolutely worth it there. I almost never go to starbucks or any coffee shop now since I basically taste the same thing. I spend about $12-$20 per bag of coffee beans + milke and a simple syrup that lasts about 1.5 months per bag. Way cheaper and convenient than my previous coffee machines (Nespresso + Aerocinno, French Press, K-Cup, AeroPress, Moka Pot), where I previously was mostly drink freeze dried instant coffee (Nescafe) in the morning for convivence. Definitely upped the quality a lot.

Only thing it doesn't replicate is a proper Vietnamese drip coffee but that requires some serious cafe du monde beans + condensed milk.
