Pretty solid deal for an 8 pack of matte filament. They are .25 kg spools but if you are looking to stock up on some random colors it's not bad.

They're only 250g spools -- 2kg total. Not a deal.

Note it's 250g each so each is about 1/4 the size of a standard spool

Bro thinks this is a good deal because it has eight rolls. I want them to answer this question: is one kilogram of feather heavier than one kilogram of iron brick?

I think his mindset was more like: this is an opportunity to buy the random colors you'll only ever need for 1 or 2 prints, in which case you're paying for NOT having nearly an entire spool of filament you'll never use.

I'm glad people were quick to point out the obvious issue, but I can see why the OP posted this; it's as an opportunity to buy practical quantities of weird colors rather than sinking extra money into full 1kg spool.

If you're printing for other people (or a custom project or whatever) paying a little more per kilo makes sense if it's a color that would typically cost more anyway; it's akin to a knitter buying a specific color because the person they're kitting for likes that color. With 250g spools you pay a little more per kg (which you'd do anyway for weird colors), but you get the added benefit of not having 750g of expensive filament lying around until you figure out a way to use it—my gf has bags and bags of yarn she bought for a specific purpose, it turns out knitters end up creating patterns just to get rid of the stuff. Just my 2 cents lol ʅ(́◡◝)ʃ

Your take would only make sense if you could choose the colors you get.

It's a decent starter set if you're just beginning.
