They have a well-known design flaw where the hinges break after a few months of regular use.

It would be worth the money at $20 because your taking the chance the hinges will break in less than a year. And Sony will not warrant the hinges.

Honestly not missing out much, the xm5 is probably one of the worst releases in the history of the line. Uncomfortable and much lower quality of materials.

Yeah as others have said, be warned these have a huge issue with hinge on the earphone that rotates. It breaks after enough use, and it is touch and go if Costco takes them back due to it being damaged. Make enough noise and they probably will, but it is a hassle.

It is sad, this line is normally the top mid range cost headphones and I have had pairs from X1 forward, but will hold off on the next generation unless they make some sort of change to the hinge or acknowledge it and say it has been fixed.

They'll more than likely have it fixed on the XM6, if only to avoid all the class action lawsuits that are underway from the XM5.
