It's not a scam, but it's kinda close. It's DRM coffee. Coffee pods with barcodes on em. It's good coffee, and decent espresso. There's zero third party alternatives, and it's like a dollar a pod which is just flat bad money spend, especially for those who want multiple shots per drink. Last I checked, someone was selling like foil stickers so you could load your own grounds into the pods with the barcodes on them. I'm cheap but I'm not that cheap.
The originaline or whatever its called, is way more bang for the buck if you just want espresso, and is cheaper and arguably makes better espresso. I cannot recommend the vertuo line over the originaline, but would recommend it over most "residential" espresso makers.

If you don't mind microwaving milk. 8 oz at 90 seconds and everything is dishwasher safe. The frother attachment detaches and charges via USB-C.
