This Walmart+ oil change perk cuts a full synthetic service to about $43.88 plus tax, making it a strong value versus DIY or typical shop pricing. The main appeal is convenience, especially for drivers who would rather avoid changing oil themselves, and the discount can apply automatically when the Walmart+ barcode is scanned at checkout. The biggest friction is execution, since some Auto Care Centers seem unaware of the offer and wait times can be long. A practical option if your local store can process it correctly.

In the app go-to account then under Walmart + choose in-store Perks. Pick any perk that states show barcode. The barcode is the same for all perks(discounts).
Thanks!

Should we buy a oil change pump?

Shame they keep canceling my appointments when I show up because they dont have the right filter in stock. Doesn't matter which car I bring in... always out of stock.

I guess that depends on where your filter is and whether you can access under your car. I use fluidmoto/ezdrain valves on the pan and can change my fj, mr2, and matrix without lifting or ramps. The filter is on the bottom on each of them so a pump wouldn't benefit me. Plus I feel gravity gets more out as I can leave them draining for however long I want.

what is OTD price with this for say a prius/civic? I'm paying $55 at the dealer w/ coupons. I usually do a test drive GC deal also but they're getting stingier with that

If you have a top-side cartridge filter, go for it. If you have a filter that lives underneath the engine, there's not much point.
There are counterpoints though- if the drain plug is in an very inconvenient position (some awd cars with transverse engines can be a pita if they route the propshaft or half-shaft under the drain plug) or if you have one of those terrible composite oil pans with the molded-in threaded inserts that shear out if you look at them funny.

Having used a few different Auto Care Centers I can say speed is definitely location dependent.

Indeed. I especially would not trust Walmart to do it.

Yes, but not one from Harbor Freight. Even if your filter is under the vehicle, still a much cleaner way to extract the oil. You can also take the oil to a recycling place in the extraction container for convenience. If you change your oil every 3-5k miles, a quality oil filter can be changed every other oil change.

I really want to get in on this this deal since my car needs Valvoline Restore & Protect. However, I can't find a single Walmart Auto Care Center within a 2-hour drive that doesn't have 10+ horrible reviews for oil changes.

I think I figured out the bar code. Like others described on the new perks page. I had a offer that had a tab show barcode, you could tap all of them and never get a bar code, however WHEN I SCROLLED THE OFFER TO THE TOP OF MY PHONE, I KEPT HITTING THE SHOW BARCODE BUTTON AND IT OPEN UP SEVERAL TIMES.
