I always thought Dune was the absolute masterpiece in politics. The sequels bored me.
Does a prequel for the Baron, Bene Gesserit, Lady Jessica, and Paul really add substance, or are those details just entertainment for Dune junkies?

As a Dune junky, these are only for some light reading in a dune inspired universe. Kevin J Anderson is the most boring author to ever live. He's consistent and writes a lot of words but shallow. If you were bored by the sequels, because they lacked that "wheels within wheels" feeling you will be doubly disappointed with these
These books feel so soulless. I comment every time I see this deal to let people know how boring these prequels are. If you absolutely need more Dune I guess go for it but you've been warned.

Thanks. I continue to believe that Dune was amazing. As in one book beyond what Asimov, Niven, and Heinlein did in a single book.
* And Asimov, Niven, Heinlein, and Pournelle are my favorite authors. Well, I'll add Piers Anthony. And Vogt. And Ursula Le Guin. And Jack Vance. And Fredrik Pohl. And the author of "Space Merchants". And "Earth Abides". And hell, the many other authors I have missed. There was one with a story about the Earth turning into a machine that cut up people. And another about a nuclear protection tunnel. And another about a survivor and his dog. Jack Vance's story Araminta Station was a great story, with depth in story and politics.
