512GB version, not 1TB but I think that is a reasonable spec trim. Great laptop, been using since it was released

It's a good deal the 512gb hard drive is just difficult if you're going to be using it for Local LLM

For reference, this has specs close to the upper end mac from previous* generation, and with this amount of RAM Apple would be selling it for like $3500 if not more. So it's a great deal. Storage can be upgraded I believe, and ASUS is working on improving the linux support (new drivers are in the process of being merged into linux)

It is remarkably similar to the iconic IBM beige, maybe a bit warmer/yellower, so it is old-school professional computing Smilie

This snapdragon has similar performance as Apple's M chips?

I would say comparable to M4 Pro for CPU performance and ~20% behind M4 Pro on graphics

I meant previous generation (M4), not the latest. M4 Pro is a good comparison for CPU

What is your experience with app compatibility with the Snapdragon processor?

Also, is the SDD upgradable?

Only app that has not been good is Insta360 Studio. Runs but very slow playback such that it is unusable, it isn't calling the GPU acceleration correctly. My specific HP G4 Thunderbolt 4 dock also doesn't have a ARM driver for its weird dual-chipset ethernet thing, but the rest works great.

Beastly specs for a Snapdragon notebook!

Not ideal for gaming due to compatibility issues, but with games that support Adreno GPUs and ARM architecture, this performs somewhere in the range of a RTX 3050 Mobile, at least with recent benchmark testing. Better than a 780m / 890m / 140v when comparing iGPUs, but well below RX 4050 levels. Basically, don't spend $1500 on this and expect it to beat any modern dedicated gaming notebook.

For everything else, this thing should fly. 48GB of RAM is probably overkill, but if you have a use case that can push that 48GB along with the 18 cores, this should be a very nice setup. All that power under 3lbs, with a 16" 1800p OLED display... This screams premium.

Thank you. Do you know if the SSD in this laptop upgradable?
