This has been really good. I have one and i got one for my dad. We have both been using it for years (maybe 3-4 years) no issues.

How easy is it to restring (the bane of every string trimmer)?

This model comes with their quick load head. Basically you cut a length and run it through the holes side to side until you're in the middle of the line. Then you ratchet the head back and forth until it's all drawn in and loaded.
I personally never load the full amount it can hold because it makes handling the line pre load easier, is faster to do, and there's less chance it gets tangled on anything. Overall it's "easy" but that's a relative term when talking about string trimmers.

Same, I don't pop a ton of line so i never load it to the max. I've only have to fill it twice ever. Mainly because I use it in the country for grass i cant hit with the mower and not around much concrete. IF i cant cut it on the mower i kill it with spray lol.

The secret is in the trimmer head. I put the Speed Feed 400 at the top because it comes with adaptors to fit most trimmers. You engage the line feed mechanism by tapping anywhere on top of the head. Attaching a 5/16" bolt to the middle of the head will greatly extend the useful life of the plastic head. About 30 seconds to load 16' of 0.095" line. No disassembly.

Another tip for trouble free line feed is to use only ROUND 0.095" line. Spray some silicone lubricant into the two holes on each side of the trimmer head after string reload to reduce friction during operation.

I have a big property but don't want to bother with mixing gas and fuel. A 10 A electric trimmer with 100' 14 gauge extension cord is almost maintenance free. Use the Harbor Freight speed control if the trimmer lacks a variable speed trigger. My 10 yr old Greenworks 10 A trimmer is still going strong.

Does this come with the FV battery and charger? It says 'kit' so I'm assuming it does...

I have a 6 year old EGO trimmer that lasts maybe 10 minutes. Is this a big upgrade?

Speed Feed 400 FTW, throw the Dewalt head in the garbage.

I believe it comes with a battery and charger. These 60V trimmers are very comparable to a gas trimmer. It says it can up to 40 minutes on low speed or 25 on high. I would say this would be a great upgrade plus you can change out the trimmer head with other attachments.

Run it on low and you'll get longer run times, if you have a good size property you'll be eating through 9AH batts. I went back to gas but these are great trimmers for small jobs.

Bought this last year for like $320, it is the best weed wacker I've used electric or gas, would have half of the 9/3AH battery left when I was done cutting my 1 acre lot. However, the motor died last week unfortunately but the Dewalt service center just took it and are shipping me a new one. Hoping it was a fluke, first dewalt tool i've had that broke

The 10 amp AC motor from Greenworks and Kobal have instant torque. 90% power of a big gas trimmer without the need to mix oil/gas, maintain the carb, plug, and exhaust screen. I run the AC motor 2 hours per month. Still have 60% life left in the carbon brush after 10 years.

Open the motor's case every other year to blow out the accumulated dirt. Also lube the bottom drive head and drive shaft with grease to prevent motor overload . Some modern trimmers no longer come with a grease fitting! I will gladly trade the inconvenience of an AC cord over a battery pack.

When Bomgaar had the Dewalt interchangeable head unit with battery/charger on sale, I got homey depot on line chat to price match for me.
