This is a lightweight hi vis hydration vest aimed at hot weather walks, yardwork, and other short outings where carrying water and a little cooling matters. The 2 liter bladder and front pockets make it useful for hydration and small items, and the bright color suits event support or cycling around town. Cooling sounds modest and short lived, around 1 to 2 hours, and the included ice packs are very small and thin. Fit, breathability, and the lack of front mesh matter, especially in humid heat or for riding.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, the hi-vis version can work well for event support, volunteering, school-bus duty, or yardwork in extreme heat. It can carry hydration plus items like a walkie or medical supplies, and the cooling can be useful for about 90 minutes in very hot conditions.

  • The cooling effect is mild and typically lasts under 1-2 hours. It is better suited to short walks, short hikes, yardwork, or other brief hot-weather use than all-day cooling.

  • The cooling packs are very small and thin, and they add weight that could otherwise be water. They can help for brief heat relief, but they are not a substitute for carrying more water on longer hikes.

  • It is made more for running than for riding a motorcycle or bike because it lacks front mesh to catch airflow. In hot, humid conditions, sweat can still collect and drip off instead of evaporating well.

  • The included bladder may be the weak point; a Hydrapak replacement is recommended for better durability and easier drying. Hydrapak bladders are reversible so they dry between uses, and they can be replaced if they leak after about 2 years of heavy use.

As a school bus driver about to return after summer vacay with temps still north of 85 and no air conditioning on the bus, this looks like a godssend.

this picture is so funny...its basically one of those cheap a$s vests you can buy off Ali. Vests in general kind of suck and are unfortunately a necessary tool for unsupported long runs in the back country or marathon training runs. I run ultras and while Ice can be helpful, what you really want is:- no movement around under arms (those straps are terrible weight balance/stability)- no chaffing (especially around neckline on cheap vests)- breathability (some sort of mesh material)- front pockets for water / fuel.Heat will always suck and as disgusting as it sounds, most vests actually get better when they are soaked in your own sweat thanks for evaporative cooling. Just pour ice down the back pouch if you're really hot or freeze half of the bladder the night before. It usually comes down to - just buy Solomon Advanced Skin (5 or 12) and be done with it. 75% of the running community agrees. Or go with UD or another brand (maybe Nathan) w/ the risk of potentially bad fit / buying and returning. etc. If you want cheap, you're better off buying a belt and using that for water/fuel - Orange Mud makes a decent one you can use with a normal 32 oz bottle, naked belt is another one fancier mesh one. I bought the cheap Ali vest and never use it...I tend to just use a cheap handheld on anything up to 15miles unsupported.
not in the southeast with saturated air so sweat just collects and drips off you

Neat looking. First you fill your dual catheter pouches and freeze then, then when you go running you have easy access water cool and refreshing doubles as an air conditioner..once you finish the water, if you BYO-catheter,you can drain the liquids right back out post kidney filtration. Very efficient.

For $16 with tax, I'll try it for doing yardwork in Texas. Only going to be 106 today. The low this morning was 84. If it cools for 90 minutes and keeps the water cool too, it'll be a massive win.

ZERO chance I'm going to go for a run with "SAVIOR COOL" in huge letters on my back, lol.
First become cool. Then become a savior. Or vice versa. problem solved.

Has anyone else ever just froze their hydro bladder for really hot days? As you walk it melts keeps you cool and gives you a refreshing drink. I had a cheap one from walmart I used to do this with. The tick is you put a clamp on the hose were it meets the bladder. That way the hose doesn't get clogged. I think I paid like $12 for mine.
Some believe the world is running out of water, so you should carry a bottle with you 24/7. Somehow, a generation ago, people managed to get through their daily tasks without constantly carrying a bottle of water everywhere they went. They drank when they were thirsty, used the available water, and somehow survived just fine.
