This is a lightweight hi vis hydration vest aimed at hot weather walks, yardwork, and other short outings where carrying water and a little cooling matters. The 2 liter bladder and front pockets make it useful for hydration and small items, and the bright color suits event support or cycling around town. Cooling sounds modest and short lived, around 1 to 2 hours, and the included ice packs are very small and thin. Fit, breathability, and the lack of front mesh matter, especially in humid heat or for riding.

  • The vest can support event volunteering by carrying hydration plus items like a walkie and medical supplies.

  • The cooling setup can help in hot, non-air-conditioned conditions like driving a school bus over 85°F.

  • Freezing the 2L bladder can keep the wearer cooler while walking and can also provide a refreshing drink.

  • The vest may provide mild cooling for casual walks or short hikes when the fit matches the size.

  • The cooling packs provide only mild, short-lasting cooling for about one to two hours.

  • The included ice packs are very small and thin, which limits how much cooling they can deliver.

  • The vest may not prevent sweat from collecting and dripping in humid or saturated air.

  • The included 2L bladder may be less durable, and upgrading to a Hydrapak bladder can improve drying and replacement options after leaks.

this picture is so funny...its basically one of those cheap a$s vests you can buy off Ali. Vests in general kind of suck and are unfortunately a necessary tool for unsupported long runs in the back country or marathon training runs. I run ultras and while Ice can be helpful, what you really want is:
- no movement around under arms (those straps are terrible weight balance/stability)
- no chaffing (especially around neckline on cheap vests)
- breathability (some sort of mesh material)
- front pockets for water / fuel.

Heat will always suck and as disgusting as it sounds, most vests actually get better when they are soaked in your own sweat thanks for evaporative cooling. Just pour ice down the back pouch if you're really hot or freeze half of the bladder the night before.

It usually comes down to - just buy Solomon Advanced Skin (5 or 12) and be done with it. 75% of the running community agrees. Or go with UD or another brand (maybe Nathan) w/ the risk of potentially bad fit / buying and returning. etc. If you want cheap, you're better off buying a belt and using that for water/fuel - Orange Mud makes a decent one you can use with a normal 32 oz bottle, naked belt is another one fancier mesh one. I bought the cheap Ali vest and never use it...I tend to just use a cheap handheld on anything up to 15miles unsupported.

Works on the lime green. If it holds hydration, a walkie, and some medical then it's going to be perfect for event support. I do a lot of volunteering so a high vis distributed pack like this is awesome.

I have one of those cheap soak in cold water vest, put over a shirt and ride in 100 degree heat for 30 minutes. Then it's look for cold water again lol, it's works, this doesn't have mesh in front to catch the air, made more for running than riding a motorcycle or even a bike. Amazon has loads of them, cheap.

Has anyone else ever just froze their hydro bladder for really hot days? As you walk it melts keeps you cool and gives you a refreshing drink. I had a cheap one from walmart I used to do this with. The tick is you put a clamp on the hose were it meets the bladder. That way the hose doesn't get clogged. I think I paid like $12 for mine.

Interested in a hi viz vest for cycling around town. I just worry about the heat. I don't plan on using the ice packs. I bought another tactical front pack but it fits loose

I switched to Solomon Advanced Skin 12 this summer. I was using the REI branded one for the past 3 years. The difference is night and day. Solomon is worth every penny. Don't cheap out on a hydration vest.

"Hands-free drinking"

Literally shows them drinking with their hand to bring the tube up.
