No trackpoint..can't really call this a thinkpad in the traditional sense. Pass.

The main reason I still use thinkpads are the track point and the physical buttons. If Lenovo doesn't get these back on all thinkpads and starts removing them then why am I paying premium dollars? HP and Dell have similar build with less cost.

+ Soldered RAM and WiFi modules, and the keyboard is integrated into the body. Awful repairability. Why does Lenovo think MacBook folks will buy anything other than a MacBook?

Just so everyone knows, the base 338h processor option has very capable graphics, unlike the rest of the "h" skus.

The "B370" gpu in the 338h has 10 Xe cores, and the x7 upgrade (with B390) adds just 2 more Xe cores.

Save yourself a few hundred bucks if ~10% faster graphics performance isn't a necessity.

Please do us the favor of providing links to the HP and Dell machines with the same specs and build quality for a lower cost. This is the lowest cost machine I've been able to find from Lenovo, HP, and Dell with these specs and build quality.

I replaced a T480 with a X9 15 last Black Friday. I still reach for the trackpoint sometimes, but the keyboard and trackpad are really nice. I love the OLED screen as well, but I find myself never using the touchscreen because I don't want to smear it.

There are a lot of videos on this topic and it also depends on how much wattage the laptop supplies to the cpu and GPU. The advantage here is the large amount of ram that can be be used by the GPU. To everyone complaining about getting rid of the track point. There is still the thinkpad T, P, E, and L series so settle down you don't have to buy this one.

Lenovo deals this year has been mediocre so far. Guess they want to keep high profit margin as market leader volume wise.
To be fair they did warn consumer last December before price skyrocket.

FYI, this Panther Lake generation feels like a stop gap solution, it balances out between Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake HX in term of performance and power efficiency but not better than any of them. I'd wait for next gen Nova Lake HX and Zen6 before committing to 2k+ laptop upgrade.

Yeah it seems like the SKUs ending with 8 have the Arc graphics.

I have the previous generation Lenovo X9 15 with the 226v. It's been a good daily driver, and this looks like a good upgrade - But I am getting tired of how shitty Windows 11 is and want to get something with full Linux compatibility - which this is not, neither is my 226v Thinkpad. Otherwise I've been really happy with it. Good quality chassis, great screen screen and size for only 3 lbs.
