$134 is a great price on DeWalt's top of the line drill
Wonder why they are clearing out a new drill ?
I know they've had issues with the anti-rotation mechanism.

It's not because of the drill. It's because of the batteries. Batteries have a shelf life, which means they can only stay on the shelves for so long.

The 801 has only been out for 1 year now.
That's a pretty short time to clearance them for battery shelf life.

Well, assuming the batteries are the reason, theres no reason to believe the batteries and drill were manufactured on the same day. Who knows how long they sat on a shelf before being bundled.

Per Google AI: Unused lithium-ion batteries in sealed kits slowly lose charge. Retailers do not test or maintenance-charge box batteries on shelves. If a kit sits on a shelf for over 1.5 to 2 years, the battery management system (BMS) can put the cell voltage into a deep sleep or permanent lockout state, which is why big-box stores prefer to liquidate kits via seasonal promotions well before they reach the 1-year mark.

My store is the worst with clearance deals. They've actually eliminated their clearance rack. The kit shows on clearance there at $242!
