The SoloCam S3 is a solar battery camera best known for 360 degree tracking, strong video quality, and easy solar upkeep. The S3 is described as the Costco version of the S340, with accurate tracking, fast app response, and solid person recognition. Long term reports say the solar panel keeps up well, even through snowy winter, and some setups have run for years without manual charging. The main caveats are reliability and software concerns, including cameras going offline, firmware update problems, limited RTSP and API support, and uncertainty around true 24 hour recording on solar power. A practical pick if you want a wireless solar camera and can live with eufy's ecosystem limits.
Common Questions (5)
The SoloCam S3 is reported to support 24/7 recording, but solar-only operation is questioned because continuous recording would drain power quickly. If you want always-on recording, a non-solar model or a wired setup may be the better fit.
Long-term reports are mostly positive, with some cameras running for years without manual charging and solar panels working well even through winter. A separate report says one camera's solar charging stopped after about a year, so the panel or cable may need troubleshooting if battery drain appears.
It can go offline after a HomeBase 3 firmware update, and rebooting may not fix it. In those cases the camera may need to be wiped and re-added, which is described as a known issue for battery and solar eufy cameras.
No RTSP or API support is reported for this camera, and RTSP support is said to be disappearing on other eufy models too. If local integration matters, a different brand such as Reolink is suggested instead.
The S3 is described as Costco's version of the S340 and otherwise the same camera. That makes it a Costco-exclusive model with the same core hardware and features as the retail S340.

I'm not attached to eufy, if there is better and more affordable option, I'd be willing to switch.
Specs I'd want: Solar powered, object (person/etc.) tracking, zones, ability to turn on/off all the camera notifications at once (automation).
