Doesn't sound like you are very familiar with Blink cameras. Do you even own one? If you're getting too many alerts, you can suppress the alerts on your phone. Second, if your cams are going off for "every little tree movement," then you can simply change the sensitivity on your cams and/or change the monitoring area to exclude the blowing tree branches. I have a couple of these cameras, and Gen 4's get good images in both the day and the night (decent IR night vision) and they have numerous options for fine tuning them (like turning down the sensitivity if they're getting triggered too often).

Finally, the big advantage of these Blink cams vs so much of the other competition, is that this set includes a Sync 2 module, that let's you record for FREE. Pretty much every other decent consumer camera requires some type of subscription to record anything. The Sync 2 accepts up to a 256 GB USB memory stick, which can last you for months (and when it's full, you just delete it, reformat it, and plug it back in the Sync 2).

Blink and Ring refurb deals stand out for low-cost home security gear, especially when adding cameras to an existing setup. The Blink kits include a Sync Module 2, free Energizer lithium batteries, and local recording to a USB drive, which makes subscription-free storage a major draw. Battery life and reliability look strong in long-term use, with reports of years of service and batteries lasting more than two years, even in sub-zero weather. The main drawback is Blink's subscription limits, since alerts, live view, and detection features are much more useful with paid service. A practical pick if local storage and expandable coverage matter most.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, the included Sync Module 2 supports free local recording to a USB drive, and the cameras still provide motion notifications and live view. Without a subscription, though, features like person/vehicle detection, extended live view, live view recording, and some alert filtering are unavailable.

  • Yes, motion sensitivity and active zones can be adjusted without a subscription, and motion zones can be set so only movement inside the designated area triggers alerts. That helps reduce false triggers from branches or other background movement.

  • Reported battery life ranges from about 2 years plus, including in sub-zero winter temperatures, to premature failures in some setups. The included Energizer lithium batteries are meant to last a long time, but actual life depends on usage and camera behavior.

    rb5505senzervisionGimmeYoTots

  • Yes, the Sync Module 2 is a meaningful add-on because it enables free local recording and is sold separately for around $50. It also accepts up to a 256GB USB drive for storage.

  • Yes, one practical use case is buying the Blink cameras instead of just Ring batteries when you need power for Ring gear. The sale price plus coupon can make the camera bundle cheaper than a battery-only purchase.

Without a subscription, you will get alerts on every little tree movement, bees or wasps, etc. if you want only human movement alerts, it's not possible without a subscription. I would personally not support a company like this.
You don't get alerts on every little thing. That's ridiculous. You can set sensitivity level as well as active zones without a subscription.

i agree with the other guy... I've had these cameras 4 years now... in the beginning you could have success with them... but without their exorbitant subscription plan they are almost useless...

I've been using the system for years with no issues. I don't and won't pay for AI or cloud. Some of my cameras run on solar and don't even need the lithium batteries changed. Let's address your confusions:Motion activated notifications. OMG! I choose sensitivity, camera quality, illumination at night, and the include/exclude areas. I have locally stored video clips for free forever. Live view is only 30 seconds OH NOOOOOOOOOOS😱 (Solution: tap Continue if needed. This is of course designed to preserve battery life)2 cameras for $15 each with lithium batteries included. A slick deal. Thank you, OP ....I have an older workhorse Blink 3 I am going to replace with this deal.

You can set motion zones that will activate if it detects movement. Any movement beyond these designated zones won't trigger.

He's right about the alerts without a subscription. When an insect buzzes the camera, it has nothing to do with sensitivity settings, the insect nearly fills the frame for a moment so it triggers. Without a subscription, you can't suppress alerts, that now falls to tricks on your phone like setting up focus modes and playing games trying to not to get alerted constantly. I've used these outdoors for years now and they're pretty good when you're on the subscription trial for 30 days, then back to delayed alerts, slow retrievel, and using phone to filter what you can. Not a deal breaker but people just need to know what they're getting into without the pricey subscription.
I kept my doorbell subscription but use the blink xr micro USB slot for my other cameras
