Segway's Cube 2000 is a high capacity LiFePO4 power station that stands out for camping, backup power, and charging tools or batteries. It has enough output to run a shirt press for hours, and the battery holds charge well. Solar recharge with two 200 watt panels took about 6 to 7 hours. The main drawbacks are the 1200 watt bypass mode, high self consumption with the AC outlets on, and weak UPS behavior when power returns. App dependence, future support, and expansion battery availability are also concerns, making it best for straightforward use rather than set and forget backup.
Common Questions (5)
It can work for light backup use, but it is not ideal as a strict set-and-forget UPS. Bypass mode is only 1200W, AC output may not turn back on automatically after battery depletion, and AC ports can draw significant self-consumption when left on.
Expansion batteries appear to be unavailable now, so added capacity may not be an option. The BTX1000 expansion pack is reportedly hard to find or absent from normal retail listings.
It can handle some heavier loads, such as a shirt press running for a few hours on a camping trip. The AC output is rated at 2200W, but bypass mode is limited to 1200W, so sustained high-draw use depends on the specific load.
It may power on in a non-functional state until it is activated through the app, showing an unclear code like "IAP." After activation, the unit works normally and the app is no longer required for basic use, though it still adds useful features.
With two 200W Renogy panels, it reportedly recharged in about 6 to 7 hours. That suggests solar charging is practical if you have enough panel wattage and good sun.

Whether Segway will be able to repair/replace the unit for warranty after they are discontinued (probably soon) is another story.

edit: I then used this unit as the UPS for my NAS, modem, router, POE switcher. After 3 months, this unit is completely dead. I guess it does not support UPS mode as most other brands do. Continuously drawing and charging kill it.
I searched for "Segway Cube Series Expansion Battery Pack BTX1000" on google/ebay and found nothing.
Any recommendations on solar panels?

They'll eventually stop updating it and it'll stop working.
