You're looking at closer to $1800 and that's with a 1TB drive.
People don't realize SSDs went up when RAM did.

but we see 2TB SSD on slickdeals often for $250-300 range now
take the middle of these 2.

32GB DDR5 is not that high either - value at $400 at the most on the high side.
at $2469, a 12GB 5070 card is pretty weak and expensive IMO
Even if you exclude the AI crap going on, it would still be around $1600 following inflation.
The only reason processors haven't increased by 20% is because Intel needs market share and following the AI trend line will tank them.

Welp I see bad news everywhere, MC's 5090 are like $3900 minimum and Amazon's 5090's are $4800. Prices going up again.
It's not a good indicator for how the market is doing.
If you look hard enough, you can get 2-3 3090s for the same price and have way more vRAM.
Track the 5070 Ti. Same amount of RAM as the 5080, but at least $300 less.

Yes, I was just checking certain GPUs to see what the prices are. I stopped checking RAM since the range is too wild.
I've seen 3090 for $1000 and I didn't bite. Hard to stack 3 3090's into a single machine with the boards I have and I think 1200w PSU is a problem but $3000 for a 72GB VRAM machine (probably need a pretty nice mboard and cpu + extra PSU frankenstein open rig).
I've gotten the 5070 TI 16GB for $829! Man these were thiccc 3-slots cards and run super hot. Kind of annoying but can't beat the value for $829.
Maybe I will try a 3090. I prefer a slim 5080 (should have gotten them at $1125 a few weeks ago).
Was just trying the new Minimax-H3 video model, nothing beats a 5090 still and can't really split the work across multiple GPUs yet so I still keep one 5090 around.

Can't really support that.
All the gen stuff is why these data centers exist.

Pretty hard not to get hit with Gen AI everyday these days, might as well know how to weld it while the money train is still rolling thru town.
