This Craftsman screwdriver set is best known for its durable acetate handles and long service life, with the blades and handles still holding up after years of daily use and rough treatment. The set also carries the Sears Craftsman lifetime warranty, and the familiar feel still compares well against rubber-sleeved alternatives. The main drawbacks are the strong aging odor some handles develop and the fact that these are now made in Taiwan rather than the old Western Forge USA versions. It remains a nostalgic, hardwearing set if the smell and origin do not matter.

With today's inflation it's ON SALE for $34.
Minimum wage for me was $4.25c in NYC. Almost 40 years later, it seems the minimum wage has caught up with the cost of living today.
I have to laugh because my neighbour goes on about his American pride but between him, his wife and 2 college aid kids they all drive Japanese and German vehicles while I drive a 2003 Ford F150 and 206 Ford explorer.
But since you didn't ask, the best quality drivers I own are made in Japan and Germany.

If you don't want them to stink, don't put them in an enclosed tool box. They have no smell if you keep them on a rack above your workbench, or an open tool belt.

Also, I can smell this picture. 🙂
I think our last Sears closed down about 8-10 years ago, I was convinced they were ALL gone now. Lots of private equity and leveraged deals in the past few years, but no real resurrection.
Kids today will never know the joy of being able to buy a band saw and a pool table 50' away from each other, then grabbing a washer, dryer, and a couple pairs of jeans on the way out.
