It's a good find, I've had it in my eBay cart for the week... Going back and forth on whether I really need it. Now that you've shared it here, I might have to make my decision before the deal expires or sells out!

Lolz, ya woman in sports bra maybe poor choice. That being said, could be really useful for personal trainer to be able to show definitive changes in body composition, fat deposition vs muscle mass, etc. If you could get volumetrics mixed with a high quality scale, could do some interesting density measurements (and subsequent % body fat calcs etc).

I'm curious what existing open source software has been written for this.

Beware, it may not work at all, and they will not honor the warranty. I got one a long time ago, and it never worked properly, no matter how many hoops Creality had me jump through. In the end, it was bad luck on my part; nothing they can do. Still got the paperweight.

Same situation here. With this and soylen filament, I'm completely done with Creality. I worked anyone against their products.

Heads up on 3D scanning and the Otter before anyone jumps on this deal.
I bought one recently. It showed up brand new even though it was listed as refurbished, so the deal itself is solid. But a few things I wish I'd known:
3D scanning is way more finicky than they make it look, and it takes a lot of patience. Scanner with lasers might be better, but this does not have lasers, just IR. Also if you want to scan wirelessly you will need to buy the wireless bridge, Otter used to connect to app and could be scanned that way, but creality disabled that when they launched the wireless bridge.
Some limitations to know about: You need a decent computer to run it, Anything black or shiny needs scanning spray, It can't handle big gaps in an object.
The biggest surprise for me was the workflow. You can't use the scan directly as CAD. The scanner gives you a mesh, and there's no easy converter to turn a mesh into CAD.
If I'd done any research beforehand I would've known all this, but it was an impulse buy. That said, if you know exactly what you want it for, this is a good deal.

Weakest part of creality scanners is the scanning software. If you find anything that can utilize the hardware fully, do share with us.

Thank you for this actually very helpful post. Some of those youtubers never mentioned these problems.
