Community Reviews
This Gigabyte A16 looks like a strong value gaming laptop for people who want a 16 inch 165Hz IPS screen, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 5070 without paying much more. The 2560 by 1600 panel is called out for 100 percent sRGB and 400 nit brightness, and the machine also brings Wi Fi 7, two M.2 slots, and support for up to 4TB of storage. The main tradeoffs are the 85W GPU cap, the older i7 13620H platform, and the 150W adapter, which point to limited performance headroom and poor battery life. It is also described as heavy enough to feel more like a desktop replacement than a travel laptop.
Common Questions (5)
The RTX 5070 is capped at 85W, so it won't run at full desktop-class power. That cap can keep temps and fan noise lower, but it also means performance is below higher-wattage 5070 laptops and battery life is still poor; this model is expected to live on the power brick for gaming and heavy use.
At $1,249 it is positioned as the cheaper option versus machines like an MSI Vector 16 with a 5070 Ti that costs about $200 more. The tradeoff is a lower-power 85W GPU, a less premium chassis, and weaker battery life than some higher-end alternatives.
The A16 is listed with a 16-inch 16:10 IPS WQXGA 2560×1600 165Hz panel rated at 400 nits typical and 100% sRGB, while the WUXGA 1920×1200 version is 300 nits typical. The 1600p panel is the better option for brightness and color, while the 1200p version is described as lower in refresh/color quality.
It has 2 total M.2 slots and supports up to 4TB of storage. The comments also frame the 32GB RAM as a strong future-proofing point, though the memory itself is not described as user-upgradable in the thread.
It's described as about 8 lb in one comment, though another notes the laptop itself is listed at just under 5 lb and the heavier figure may be the box weight. Either way, it's treated more like a desktop replacement than a lightweight gaming laptop.

This is a good price but the processor is old. It's power brick limited and still stuck at 10nm so you're gonna get bad battery life

It's indeed a power hungry processor. Because they have the 5070 capped at 85w and this supposedly ships with a 150w brick, this isn't configured to run up to the full 115w that CPU can be allocated, probably more like 50-65w. Depending on their dynamic power allocation, the CPU could indeed use more if the GPU is disabled or put into a low power state however.
Either way, this laptop is indeed going to have poor battery life. You'll definitely be living off the brick.
