It seems the days of pay in full for the full discount up front are over. It was nice while it lasted.

Can we pay up earlier though? Like paying the full amount off in the second month

That's really a shame. One of the best remaining deals in mobile is now 🪦

I miss those spectrum deals. I even have a12 month trial of spectrum mobile for $30. But in 12 months it will probably go up to a million dollars.

Too much abuse with people trying to buy and unlock next day, it was a matter of time. I got the s24u deal but I had a free line for a year so not reason to switch.

I am trying to understand how the new process works. Let say I go for 36 monthly plan and gets $500+$200+$5(device value) now showing me 11pro 9.73 per month for 36. Now if due to some reason I move out after 16 months, so will I have to pay 9.73*20 approx 200 or more.

There's no reason to spend money on Spectrum phones anymore with this change to their promotions. Their unlimited plans are far behind MVNOs like Visible and US Mobile. They've been raising prices and now have gotten rid of the only reason to buy a phone through them.

I think you can pay the remaining balance in the 2nd month to get out of contract. This is what I did few months back. I got exactly similar price as credit as the price of the phone. Customer rep told me to pay off the remaining balance first and later they will credit this money back. It went well without issue.

The new terms and conditions specifically say otherwise: "Requires 36-month payment plan. Disconnecting service or upgrading early forfeits remaining credit."

I chatted to one customer care rep, they said I can pay the remaining portion to stay out of contract.

Spectrum does not do contracts. You'd be paying off the phone in it's entirety, no bonuses. You can leave anytime (no contract), provided your balance is paid in full. This is what the rep described.

Thanks for the details, I get it. 500$ bonus will spread over 36 months. That is fine. My wife is using 30$ monthly plan for her business phone. Spectrum service is good in our area and line is attached to internet.

If you pay only $200 for the remaining 20 months, that is a great deal; but I doubt they let you go free like that. I think they will add the portion of $500 bonus for the 20 months remaining to your $200 balance. That means you will pay $200 + $278 (20 months of $500) = $478 to get out of contract.
