The Daiwa QR is a compact ultralight reel that stands out for ice fishing and light freshwater setups, with a larger spool than many UL reels that helps reduce line memory, twist, and slow pickup. It also folds down easily for storage, and the QR750 specs list 3 plus 1 bearings, a 5.1 to 1 gear ratio, and a 7 pound drag. The main knocks are a stiff bail close and limited appeal at this price compared with other reel deals.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. It is described as an excellent ice fishing reel because its larger spool helps reduce line memory, line twist, and slow line pickup compared with many other ultralight/ice reels.
4-10 lb braid is a practical choice for bass depending on bait depth and cover, while the reel is also spec'd for 4 lb mono at 110 ft or 8 lb J-Braid at 100 ft. For trout, 2 lb test is also used on this reel.
Yes. It has been used to land bass over 20 inches, and it is also paired with lightweight rods for drop shots and wacky worms.
The Daiwa is described as easier and more enjoyable to fish, with a larger spool diameter that reduces line memory and twist. Its handle also folds down with a push button, while the President requires loosening the handle cap.
No. It is described as not made for sabikis because the rigs are too stiff for this reel, which is spec'd around 110 feet of 4 lb mono.

One thing I don't like is how much handle turning pressure is needed to close the bail on some of these. My old circa 1970s Mitchell reels are still working, and the bails close so much easier.
