Fam, I love my Epson Workforce but I am SO DONE with cartridges. (Plus Epson is disabling 3rd-party carts, so I haven't upgraded the firmware in years.)

If and when this thing kicks it, the next thing is Ecotank or GTFO

2 models, no discernible difference beyond a digit in the model number and $20 cheaper.

Yup, either $400 for new genuine toner sets or $100-$200 for 3rd party toners with chips that the printer either won't read or will recognize as "non-genuine" and void your warranty by sending usage data to the manufacturer. Ink tank or nothing (for most home/small office settings)!

I used to have an EPSON printer, worked well, really liked it. Then I changed to 3rd party inkjet cartridges, still worked well, enjoyed the printer and I saved $$ on ink costs. Out of nowhere EPSON unleashed a firmware update that broke the ability for me to use 3rd party ink cartridges with a printer that I BOUGHT WITH MY OWN MONEY. Completely anti-consumer behavior by EPSON.

There is no way a company should be able to control what ink you put in a printer YOU buy. I felt tempted to take a hammer to it like the guys did to that copy machine/printer in "Office Space," but instead just donated it to someone else who didn't mind paying $$ for "genuine EPSON" ink. I will NEVER buy another EPSON product. YOU HAVE LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!

I bought a brother MFC-J4335DW INKvestment Tank printer, and have been happy with it. I can use generic inkjet cartridges no problem. Thanks brother!

Don't buy Epson inkjets. Ink dries super fast and you will be buying Epson expensive inks every time you print.
