I don't know if it's planned obsolescence or the latest update, but the three I bought at the same time awhile back all have the same several software issues that make the device pretty frustrating to use at night. I've reset them all and the same issues happen.

Change the language to British or Australian English. Most of the ads will disappear.

Restart them daily. If you have a smart plug, you can set it to turn off for a minute a day. They seem to have a memory issue and get overloaded.

This used to work but no longer. The only option now is to get one without a display or turn on do not disturb for 23:59 every day which kills the photos or get the echo spot (which for now still doesn't have ads).

Mine also barely show Spotify currently playing.

Most companies seem to be trending away from making these devices it seems given low profit margin. I still own and use them and echo devices are among the best but oddly get slowly worse with time.
