I can't speak for the hedge trimmer but the M12 Hatchet was kind of disappointing. It's really easy to make it stall out. I tried out the M18 version which is a huge improvement - that tool is much harder to stall out even with the smallest M18 batteries. I would skip the M12 version entirely unless you have some big reason not to. This isn't to say that it's a bad tool, there are just MUCH better options.
