When I'm not using my phone, I like to put it away, I don't walk around with my phone in my hand. Didn't Apple try something like this, but made it with some kind of fabric, for some insane amount of $$$ ?

Could be because The Cable under the Sheathing is not made properly and maybe a few strands get pulled with the swaying weight of the phone, while using it as a lanyard and stops conducting a charge.
