Typically a conditioner will help the chlorine not burn off in the sun as fast while also leaving the water feeling "smoother". I use the liquid form, and it's a lot more expensive than this.

I prefer the liquid form also. It does go on sale if you watch it.
What is this for? Has anyone successfully used this with their pool?
If you use liquid chlorine or a salt water chlorinator, CYA needs to be added separately. It protects the chlorine from the sun. It doesn't get used up though. Once you have the right amount (~70ppm) you don't need more unless you lose water from rain overflow, leaks, splash out, etc
Anyone using chlorine pucks or granules should make sure they aren't already adding this stabilizer (cyanuric acid- CYA) as part of those methods. Typically most pools should be between 50-100ppm CYA.
CYA is only reduced from splash out or water changes and builds up from chlorine pucks over the season. Use too many pucks and this level could get out of control, too.
