Edit 8/27/2026, Looks like trade-in deal is MOSTLY DEAD. On 8/21 it was revised to no longer accept broken devices, and on 8/27 modified so that older devices only get a $450 credit instead of $900.
Original post: Existing T-Mobile customers can get up to a $900 trade in value on Google Pixel 11 phones. The trade in can include some lower end phones, and works on older calling plans (including Go5G and ONE, but not simple choice)
The correct rebate only showed when I was logged into my T-mobile account. It says it's for "Essentials and select legacy plans". My old T-Mobile ONE plan worked. (edit: others have reported Simple Choice plans don't work, only a $250 rebate)

For a base Google Pixel 11 this would make it basically free. For higher end models it's a $900 discount.
Interestingly, the plan says the credits are split out over 36 months, but the checkout and my actual order confirmation show it's only spread over 24 months.

I suppose I understand if you utilize the VPN service and that is important to you. I had access to Google's VPN as a Google One subscriber but honestly can't remember using it because I didn't like the idea of Google providing the OS, browser, and VPN while betting a company whose profits are driven by data accumulation and assimilation. Was that reaction valid? I have no clue but I've also been paying for a separate VPN service for years and it has worked a treat and I like the idea of checks and balances (hopefully) being more prominently adhered to compared to everything being controlled under the same roof.
I'm not really sure how Samsung's UI is a mess as I've found it extremely customizable. Does it offer a ton more features than the Pixel that may overwhelm some? I suppose but then they don't really have to access them either. Samsung DeX alone has become something I utilize practically every day and have been for several years now. Now, I'm no fanboy and I go where the reviews and feature sets take me. I've owned HTC, Pixels, OnePlus, Samsung, Motorola, and iPhone, yada yada yada. If a phone model comes out that has great reviews and the performance offers something that enhances my daily life at all, I'm all about it. That just hasn't been a Pixel for me in a very long time. I still have access to all of the photo editing and AI enabled enhancements with my Google subscription and that is on top of the Samsung offerings (I've honestly come to appreciate certain features of each as being better than the other if I need to do some quick photo/video edits so it is incredibly convenient to have access to both). Everything syncs with my Google integrated accounts flawlessly. Anything less than what I have access to now just feels like a compromise and a rip off BUT.... there's always next year's Pixel to hope on lol

Same concept when you trade in a car when buying new. Say you have a trade-in car worth 20k and are buying a 50k car. You would be remiss to say "Great deal, I only paid 30k for that new car."
Not trying to rain on your parade. Just pointing out so others see how cellular carriers, and car dealerships, actually play the game. That's why in the case of these phone deals, it's wise to trade in the cheapest phone you can find that qualifies for the promotion rather than a pricier one. Yet many customers do it anyway, often out of convenience, which I understand, but convenience always has a price.
