There's a real difference between leather straps and birki buc (or whatever their synthetic is called). Spring for the leather if you can.

Not anymore. Quality has gone down since they became the "cool sandal" to have. They also got bought out by private equity and I guess changed the materials and/or factory on the cork beds.

100%. My leather ones are now smoove as butter. The birko-flors were rough and a much stiffer footbed.

You can also buy direct from Birkenstock. They have regular sales a few times a year, and you can get sandals for about $70-80 delivered. (You might have to buy a few pair, and the selection may be reduced compared to the normal priced items.)

I run out of tread on these bad boys after 3+ years. Great shoes. I like the suedu variant cause otherwise it's blister o clock for me.

I've always wanted a pair, but unfortunately nothing is left in my size at Woot.

Howver, as someone else mentioned, Birkenstock site itself has current sales. I joined their VIP rewards and ended up getting a total of 40% off one of the leather pairs that retails for $150, and with shipping it came to about $85, which is $5 less than a similar pair from this Woot sale (you'll pay $5-$10) tax on top either way.

The model I got was Arizona Mixed Leather Dark Tea, which seems close enough to Mocha, Taupe, or Dark Brown colors that are most popular and quick to sell out on Woot in hours.

I resole birks with Vibram boot soles upon purchasing. Pricey but necessary for me to have them last more than a few months

Last pair lasted about 5 years. So not really buy it for life, but pretty solid since i live in California, work in tech, and pretty much live in sandals.
