Main reason to upgrade is for features not sonics.
Many other factors make a significant bigger difference with that.
One popular feature is Dirac room correction.
I will point out, It does have a learning curve.
If that is one and you're not tied to Denon.
Look at Onkyo's RZ30, includes Dirac Live & access the Dirac's subwoofer/bass room correction(DLBC).
The 2900 will only give you access to Dirac Live only, not included($300 cost).
If you're trying to improve sonics, highly recommend looking into A1EVO Express.
Gamer changer for Audyssey because it basically gives you the performance of Dirac Live(some cases DLBC also)for free!

My 3300h sounds great. I just want the features if that makes sense. I'll never do 7 speaker surround (wife would kill me) I would consider adding a second sub someday.

Also, my living room is small and couch close to my tv and kef r11 towers. Originally I was planning on a 5.1.2 setup with 2 kef 3001se speakers on the ceiling but now I'm wondering if I can just put those above the towers height on the ceiling as front height and get the same effect as angled ceiling atmos
Any thoughts on ceiling almost versus from front heights?

To answer your question, what angled atmos speakers were you thinking of? Dirac doesn't work well with upward firing speakers but does with downward firing ceiling speakers. From Dirac:
"ATMOS: Upfiring speakers vs ceiling speakers
Upfiring speakers behave differently than ceiling speakers in Dirac Live (if they have been properly labeled in the device).
The speaker type should be "DOLBY_ATMOS_SPEAKER" for upfiring speakers. This should trigger a pre-emphasis filter being applied on the device to the stimuli played through such a speaker.
The pre-emphasis filter is there to ensure that the special Dolby-patented target curve for such speakers is not "destroyed" by the Dirac Live filter design.
Basically, the pre-emphasis filter will hide the Dolby-filter from our measurements. This doesn't happen in Dirac Live, it happens on the device.
So if the device supports configuring a speaker as upfiring, then it should apply our defined pre-emphasis filter during the stimuli playback for Dirac Live measurements so that Dirac Live doesn't wash off the height effect.
There are two caveats, though:

Going to Atmos, two pairs is optimal, imo mandatory to make it worthwhile.
Look at their Ci(QR or RR) line for in ceiling.
Height is popular if you won't/can't do overhead.
For ART you should have your base layer speakers all reference quality and at least two quality subs first.
TBH most people likely only need DLBC.
It's an extension of Bass Control, it does most of the work anyways.
