How does this compare to PLA+ (aside from the obvious)? I don't have much reason to use PETG since PLA+ seems to do the job with less bother; the only thing PETG has over PLA+ is temperature durability and maybe better structural integrity in a small number of cases.

Seems like not having the increased rigidity of PLA+ would make the HT kind of pointless.. but I guess that's why there's a GF option? At that point you've gone full circle, so... why not just save your nozzle & use PETG? lol

I'm new to 3D printing so maybe I'm missing something obvious.

One of the main selling points of this HT-PLA is that it can withstand higher temps than regular PLA. PETG can withstand a bit higher temperatures than even this PLA though. It depends a lot on a persons application for which filament they will use. While I have a lot of PETG, I use PLA more frequently than PETG as you will have better dimensional accuracy with PLA over PETG. I also don't like the finish of most PETG, but that's just a personal preference.

Also, Polymaker is from the best filament out there. I have not used their PETG though.

I've used the HT-PLA-GF and it is stiffer than standard PLA, but also very brittle. So much so that i had some concern that it would break in the feed tube. It does have a nice matte finish, as well. I haven't tried it in extreme temperature, but for some lab applications, getting to around 60-70C it didn't soften or deform.

I guess I'm just wondering why you'd use HT-PLA-GF over PETG since glass filament is harder to work with and PETG has higher temp durability. I suppose aim really just asking what the use case is. If it's just the look of the finish or something that's fine, I'm just trying to make sense of what it's used for because it just seems like PLA trying to be PETG but not doing it very well. lol

On top what other said, PLA is more brittle than PETG. PETG is also quite cheap, about $5 to $7 per kilogram on deals ( non-polymaker PETG).

PETG in general is also much more UV resistant than PLA, so for anything outside, it should deform less and last longer. Darker colors are better than lighter or translucent colors as the dyes stop deep penetration of the UV. If you need something stiffer than PETG, with a higher temp then HT PLA could be the solution, and the PLA GF is supposed to have more resistance to impact damage, but I've never used, so take that with a a big grain of salt.

i just hate the way PETG parts looks too shiny. I know their is matte petg now never tried them.

I'm not sure why you'd say the pla-GF is harder to work with, no harder than regular pla. It shouldn't need to be dried like petg and will have better dimensional accuracy which I'd think is a major plus for many applications. You should use a hardened nozzle though, but many of the modern printers come with one and if you don't have one yet, you will likely get one not too far into your 3d printing journey. And as mentioned, for me at least, I don't like the finish of standard petg {PETG-CF or PETG-GF is a different story).

I'm in agreement with you, all though if you try PETG-CF or PETG-GF, I bet you'd be quite satisfied with the finish. They don't have that standard petg sheen.
