Rowenta used to be good. They used to make them in Germany. Now this one is Made in China.
Bought similar one from Costco and it stopped working. Returned it got the CHI brand still going strong.

Do people still really have the misconception that China has cheap manufacturing?

No I am stating from my personal experience I've had several Rowenta irons. The older ones that were made in Germany out lasted the Chinese one easily. Search google and you will see Redit post of similar experience. Not sure what changed but they don't last anymore
