Trick is to go back and forth every year between cheap annual offers, some work involved with the porting and what not, but definitely worth the savings.
My personal take is, I only try to do the 12 month offers. getting a $10-15 a month for 3 months deal may be nice, but to keep dealing with port in and port outs and glitches that can arise from starting a new carrier more than 1x a year is something I have no interest in messing with.
I am currently on MINT, my year cell plan ends in early December, so I too will be shopping around then for a deal if mint won't renew me at $180 for the year. But I have no complaints about their service, been very reliable and solid whereever I've used the phone.
Community Reviews
Mint Mobile's 12 month unlimited plan stands out for low annual pricing on the T Mobile network, with solid service and decent 5G coverage in many areas. The comments also point to smooth porting in some cases, helpful online chat for account and PIN details, and occasional renewal discounts that can drop the effective monthly cost further. The main cautions are deprioritization in crowded cities, extra taxes and fees, and a 50 GB slowdown on unlimited. Porting out can take extra steps, and activation or support problems have also been reported, so it fits best when coverage is strong and the savings matter most.
Annual switchers who chase carrier promos, because the plan works well when you are willing to port numbers and renew each year.
Rural phone users who want low-cost unlimited service, because Mint stays usable with decent 5G coverage outside congested areas.
Heavy data users in uncongested areas, because speeds can stay around 30 Mbps and only drop after 50GB deprioritization.
Unlocked-phone owners who want a straightforward activation, because Mint requires an unlocked device and eSIM activation can work smoothly.
People who need easy port-out control, because getting account and transfer details can require chat or a call and porting out can be cumbersome.
City commuters in dense crowds, because Mint can slow down badly in congested areas and at concerts.
Travelers who need reliable international service, because the international add-on can fail abroad and leave you without usable service.
Call-dependent households, because calls may not ring or notify reliably on the network.

(Yes the little red map claims coverage but real life is different from their claims)

All Mint Mobile users get QCI 7 no matter the location.
If you have the highest plan, you will only be deprioritized further (no data cap) after 50GB. This won't mean much if you don't live in a congested market. At times I reached 900+ mbps, and as low as 2mbps+ at concerts
I would greatly recommend mint if you live in rural areas. For big cities, it might be better to go for better company that offers prioritization.
