This is the first time I have seen a significant sale on the new Honeywell X8S smart thermostat with the room sensor. It did not go on sale at all during Prime Day (mostly it was Honeywell's older models that went on sale). This model is the successor to the popular RTH9585WF and T9 models. The white model is on sale for $192.

Is the energy monitoring worth anything on this model? I have one of the lower tier thermostats and through the app its just a chart of "x hours runtime" and that's it. I've started to consider different brands

I bought 2 of the cheaper X7B during Prime Day and am happy with them overall. Also got a rebate from the electric company. There are a few tweaks I would make to the First Alert app though... but they said they are coming out with a new app. Hope the new app really is better and not a boondoggle.

It sounded like they were touting new features.

I hope so, would be a game changer if they let us change those advanced settings that you can currently only do from the physical thermostat

In the First Alert app, there is an 'Advanced Setup' option in the settings for my thermostats... but I think it does require physical access to the thermostat... maybe for security reasons. But you change the settings in the app once you are 'authorized'.

Must be specific to some models. I have a T6 Pro, manual doesn't mention how to switch it to Authorized. Nothing in the app has "advanced " in the settting section either =/.
