I really want to know about the brand of the gpu as well. I mean I have 5080 and selling what I receive and sell my gpu right now I am putting about 2000 to upgrade from 5080. The FOMO is real!!!!

Yes.

You can move the GPU to another machine. Make sure you have room, it's over 13 inches long and 3+ card height. I measured it once for someone but I can't find that post.

You just have to remove about 7-8 screws from the anti-sag bracket and it's just another GPU to use. Make sure you got enough power. 9950x is power hungry, you should have 1200w PSU. Just transplant the PSU at the same time to your computer.

You will need anti-sag mechanism in your current case. Or get one or two $5 ones. You can find them easily amazon.com

It's a standard ATX PSU before someone says its proprietary Haha

Yes. I have one of the Lenovo deals. I was trying to order while I was on plane cuz the deal is good! I still have it and just downloaded a few different qwen 3.8 27B. I got around 108 tgs on MTP. Pretty good! I paid 3 years on-site because I push this machine the hardest.Free is relative, We do have to pay for the machine and electricity

Think Time is a killer. I can't stand it. I am using windows. I have not dedicated a 5090 to run Linux which will be better at serving LLM using VLLM
I'm pretty sure you can have it setup with WSL linux in windows and you don't have to setup dual boot or just Linux to run vLLM.

I'm torn on this deals as I prefer AM5 platform over my current Legion intel one. Reason being I can replace 9700x/9600x with new non-x3d Zen6 CPU and have better multithread performance and similar gaming performance. With Zen6 CPU huge amount of cache and single core performance, x3d might be not that impressive any more.

Thank you for yet another useless contribution to the deal. If you don't like the deal or discussion you can move along but I know you can't help it. Lol

It is OEM. I can't tell which brand it is like if Gigabyte or Asus made it for HP. Or HP did it all on their own with the PCB from Nvidia

I decided not to do this yesterday

If you get AM5 9950x3d, you get best if both worlds for gaming and multi-tasking. Idk when we can actually get the new CPU. I aspired to get 9950x3d so I can do more but then I realized I am not using my Lenovo 285k or my other 9950x (non-3D) hard enough as it is. lol

I did order 9800x3d yesterday so I can turn them game machines with maybe 5070 TI. Also thinking I can live o single channel ddr5 for some games if I have x3d...

I think I tried WSL once for something else and it failed. I didn't try VLLM. I do prefer to have window hosts so I can run other apps simultaneously!

Oh man, if I had that epp eligibility, I would jump in.
EPP is just an extra $150 or so off. Still a great deal even if you don't have EPP

FOMO got the best of me. I got the MSI Infinite with the 285k and 5090 for my sim rig last year. I needed to upgrade my office PC and with a few games I'm looking forward to this year I'm hoping it works just a well.

This will replace RTX 3090 Ti which I think is smaller. I thought 5090 is 2 slots? I've been using Corsair SF850 PSU

He is right though. I have a 9070XT and right now, I find it kinda useless. A 5070 12GB is better for my needs -- ComfyUI. So I have a paperweight. I don't game. So I am using the 9070XT to make AI music. That is the only thing I can use it for. I tried ollama but I have a MacMini with more horsepower.

This is entirely going to depend on what you do with it. Sure, 9070XT is pretty good for gaming and that was what I was using it for. Now, like other people, AI and inference are valid use cases people are buying CUDA GPUs right now.

I just returned a 5070ti 16GB Gigabyte from Best Buy $1085 and it did more than the 9070XT ever did. I only returned it to get this 5090 rig. My 9070 XT is way past it's return window from last year. CUDA workflow really opened up my eyes.I keep on trying different models but the 9070XT would always OOM or take 5x longer.

Does anyone know how many additional SATA slots and internal drive bays there are? I want to install my HDDs in the rig.

What is a realistic use case for such a powerful machine? What would you do to hit 80% of memory usage on such machines ?
