On a previous posting of this deal I saw a post that said the future is 1.5v lithium batteries. I found the post persuasive and ordered a set of rechargeable lithiums instead. I suppose there is a greater chance of fire with the lithiums, though.

If you're new to rechargeable you might as well buy one of the Eneloop starter kits that come with batteries and charger. You can get ones that also have C and D battery cases for using the AA in.

If you need/want something fancier, you can get a nice multi-material analyzing charger from someone like Opus.

These are really good batteries. Rechargeables are inherently slick even if you pay full price, as you avoid throwing away a bunch of disposable alkaline batteries.

I know everyone likes these but I found them not really hold their charge? I had to throw away a lot of these because they had memory issues, so unless you spend a lot of money on a pro charger that you can force charge/discharge or some other trick, I am not sure if it's worth getting these over something like Ikea cells or those huge packs of duracell from Costco. Like people said, maybe these are better for solar lights etc? But most solar lights I found had pretty bad lumen at night, anyone know a good bright solar path lights type of things?

Checked the AAs and they are 8 for $23.99, oof. At home we use more AA than AAA for some reason.

You may have gotten fakes. Most people don't have any issues with Eneloops. Amazon is known for fakes.

Same experience. Maybe it's fake from Amazon.

Same here. I think I still have several from the SANYO days that still perform fine, that's what- 20 years? I got so sick of dealing with constantly leaking Duracells all the time destroying equipment that I finally just bit the bullet and went full rechargeable everywhere--- one of the best investments in my life and never had a single one leak on me, ever.

Mine are still going strong too but they charge in pairs only. Not sure if they do single batteries now. Must check this before compromising.

Agree w the rest, mine are over 10yr old and still work like the 1st day I purchased them. No issues at all.
