This 8 gallon HART compressor stands out for its very low price and unusually quiet operation, making it a strong step up from small 1 gallon units and typical pancake compressors. The tank size also gives it enough capacity for tire inflation, cleaning, brad nailing, drywall texture, and even heavier cleanup jobs like tile and mortar removal. The main catch is availability, since stock and pricing vary widely by store and the deal often only appears in person. Warranty support may also be uncertain because the brand appears discontinued, so it feels best suited to local pickup and straightforward use.
DIYers needing a quiet garage compressor for tires and brad nailing, because it runs quieter than typical pancake oil-free units and handles those light tasks well.
Contractors needing sustained air delivery for heavier pneumatic tools, because the 2.4 CFM output is mainly suited to tires, cleaning, and a brad nailer.
Buyers who want a quiet compressor for frequent indoor use, because it is quieter than pancake units but still described as a loud dehumidifier when running.
It can handle tire inflation, cleaning, and brad nailing, and the 8-gallon tank also helps with bigger jobs like removing tile and mortar or spraying drywall texture. The 2.4 CFM rating limits heavier continuous tools, so it is better for intermittent tasks than demanding air tools.
Yes, the deal appears to be in-store only, and stock can differ from what Walmart's website or app shows. The app may scan the compressor down to $64 even when the online price shows about $159.
The brand appears discontinued and the website returns a 404, so warranty claims may be difficult. One buyer still planned to register for HART's 3-year warranty, but support may be limited if the brand is no longer active.
It is reported to be much quieter than a typical pancake oil-free compressor, with one comparison likening it to a loud dehumidifier indoors. That makes it a better fit for home use than many budget compressors.
Any consensus on how widespread the clearance pricing is on these? A couple of stores have it but I'm not in the mood for a wild goose chase.
Its not worth the time/effort unless the Walmart near you has one, which is almost certainly not the case since this is a very rare deal. I need a small/medium one like this in the 6-10gal range but I'm not spending hours to try to track one down and drive really far to get it. I'd rather save a day of research, time, and gas to get a 10gal Fortress Ultra Quiet one from Harbor Freight which also makes exchanges/returns super easy in-store if there's ever a problem.

My local store is out, but a store I drive right by a couple days a week still shows stock, just trying to figure out if it's worth a quick detour or if it may still be full price assuming I can find it?
Just picked one up in KY. Store showed Zero stock online, but checking in person it was there. 1 still left. Online price showed the 159... but Walmart app scanned to $64 in store
Just an FYI, I went to a location in far north Dallas (Northeast DFW region) that stated they had it in stock for pick up or shipping. The did not have it there when I went and asked. An associate looked up other locations that had in their system and I was able to find a store with 10 in stock even though the website and app both showed zero in stock for that location.

Found 2x on the tool aisle in greater PA. I took one.
It was $65 and tax.
I plugged it in when I got home, it's quieter than a typical pancake oil free compressor, it almost sounds like a loud dehumidifier when running indoors.
Hopefully we can still register with hart for the 3yr warranty in case anything happens in the future.
Certainly seems better than the cheap HF compressors for ~$65 price range.
Can someone confirm this is hilariously overkill for an airbrush? Tempted to pick one up but that's probably all I'd use it for; using a portable ryobi unit for tire inflation.
Brand is discontinued. The website throws a 404 error. Probably will take a lot of effort for any warranty claims.
Warranties are often worthless even with existing brands, too much hassle. At such deep discounts on shuttered brands, it becomes a throwaway if anything goes wrong.
My Blue Hawk 8 gallon was clearanced 12 years ago and the only thing I've replaced is the air filter which is a cheap generic part anyway.
