The Sundara is a planar magnetic over ear headphone best known for wide soundstage, fast response, and strong instrument separation, with especially good mids and a warmer, more intimate presentation that suits rock and gaming. Comfort is a recurring strength, and replacement pads and other third party accessories are available. It can run straight from a laptop or tablet, though an amplifier or DAC amp brings out more of what it can do. Main drawbacks are the lack of a microphone and inline volume controls, plus AliExpress pricing and shipping hassles.

I have a FIIO K10E which apparently has been replaced with the K3 now, but I was super fond of it and still use it for my laptop. I eventually bought a larger K5Pro (around 200 USD) and am quite fond of it too, I have had both for multiple years with absolutely no problems and lots of abuse to both devices,

Can you recommend a DAC/AMP combo
If you want a combo that can drive any pair of cans, even balanced, and has XLR output, the Topping DX5-II is insane for only ~$250

Audio Science Review put it through the bench tests, and it was amazing :

nah, I'm referring to this bad boy

https://www.fiio.com/newsinfo/53647.html

The Fosi you posted is cheap for sure, but naming it exactly the same as a more reputable device is not a great sign IMO.

If you're on a tight budget I would get the Fiio Olympus 2

Its an old DAC/AMP but I still have and use mine after ~8 years. I have zero stake in your decision, just showing what has worked for me, that is not my ebay listing - just a decent price for a device I like.

Yeah, screw HiFiman and their insanely stupid restrictive shopping policy.

How does this compare with Sennheiser headphone specially 599,600 or 650 ?
Looks like most people prefer the Sennheisers (granted these reviews are for 650 and a few years old), but these Sundaras with an amp get good reviews. Also, those reviews are comparing at a $180 price point, so this is probably a solid buy if your in the market

I'm far from an expert so take this with a grain of salt. I have the Drop/Sennheiser 6XX. The Sundaras have planar magnetic drivers so they are different that our Senns. They have a wider soundstage and their faster. They are pretty good at separating instruments from one another. There should be tons of comparisons online so I would try a search to get more detailed info and opinions. I also don't follow newer offerings that may be a better choice.I have a small head so I have to use spacers for the Sundaras. I don't have that problem with Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic cans.A Dac and amp are investments. They can run anywhere from a couple hundred dollars for both to thousands. It really comes down to personal preference. Schitt is a brand made in the US if that is important. Most brands offer budget, mid and high end offerings.
I use an iFi Zen DAC V2. You can find them for closer to $100 at times

My brother got these from last time it hit front page. I was surprised to learn that you can't increase/decrease audio and that there is no microphone. Those are deal breakers for me. How is everyone else so appreciative of these? What am I missing?
Because these are headphones, not headsets.

I got a little Nobsound P32 hybrid tube amp to drive my headphones. It works really good when you tube roll and change the opamp.

Wow! Amazing price! I paid around $200 used several years back. You will need a dac and amp or dac/amp combo to power these.

Edit: The link isn't working for me. It opens a new tab and then immediately closes the tab.

When I search for them myself I see this " This product can't be shipped to your address. Select another product or address."
These do not require a dedicated amplifier. That is incorrect information. You can make an argument that a dedicated amplifier can improve their performance, but that is not the same as being required.

I used these as daily driver with my laptop for a long time and have also used them an a desktop computer with no separate amplification. You can absolutely plug these into a laptop or tablet and use them as is.

This is a great set of headphones at an even better price. Comfortable and breathable. Easy recommendation, and I almost exclusively use mine on a laptop without dedicated amplification.

Even Edition XS don't require much, it turns out. People love clamoring over numbers and details, and while the volume output from my motherboard was lackluster, a cheap sub $20 usb dongle dac/amp was more than plenty to drive these.

I'm using JM6 Pro usb dongle with Edition XS and I have to keep the volume at like, 16/100 on my pc.

How well do these compare to the planar drivers in the Audeze Maxwells?
