I know there's lots of "x VPN provider is horrible" these days and sometimes I see those comments about nord. For what it's worth I've had no problems with it as a user for many years but I think it depends on use case. I've just used it now and then for region changes to buy a ticket or watch a stream and it's fine for that. I don't run it 24/7.

Personal experience: I had Nord for 3+ years My gigabit internet took a bit hit, 50% or more. The Split Tunnelling refused to work. We--the NORD techs and I--spent a couple of weeks trying to troubleshoot the problem, to no avail. Couple of months ago, I switched to Proton. Couldn't be happier.
Am I missing something? The 15-month version is cheaper per month And a higher tier of service
Not 100% sure of this, but I believe these are effectively the same product. I'm also willing to bet that the 15 months is originally a "get 3 months free" sort of promo. Mostly comes down to whether you'd prefer to lock Nord in for 2y imo. The $/mo isn't too much of a difference. I've been happy with the service, but I'm not a hardcore user of it

3yr sub from PIA on mac and switched to Nord. All my system freezes/crashes went away. Speeds were also 3-5x faster.
I am on gigabit too and my max is 125MB/sec, I can usually get 50MB/sec from torrents and maybe 62.5MB/sec (verified by fast.com)
I tried Proton too and it was great as well but it's not as cheap as Nord @ $1.67
PS: no one's MAC split tunnel works.
