Edit: sadly, I've concluded my Fellowship of the Rings Extended DVD isn't playing because of disc rot beyond recovery. And apparently, this was the only Extended that didn't have weird green color tints and poor dynamic range, the newest 4K extended edition is the green tint version that is now a pale, washed out color version, still has blown out highlights, and even worse detail than the 1080P Blu-ray version because aggressive noise reduction has erased props, made sets and actors look more fake, and introduced compositing artifacts, and made other weird changes like adding a vignette and white filter effect for all flashbacks. The color is the change I would notice most, it makes me sad.
Im holding for the 4k Ultra HD version. (Playing on 2020 Samsung 60" tv via PS5 disc drive)

For example in Return of the King (~4hrs long) you'll be getting up at the 2hr mark to swap out the disc's.
Which is fine by me, perfect time for more snacks and a bathroom break.
Well worth the significantly higher quality imo.
So got rid of green tint complaint but other complaints arose.
The one plus to remastered is it offers the same object based soundtrack as the 4k version.
The original BR version does not.
It's a significant upgrade & that's a tough feat, BR was reference material!
