Is there a certain EGO device that you all are attaching this to? I need a pole saw but I don't have any EGO devices yet. I've been planning to starts buying some.

Before you start buying anything you should know that Ego has a proprietary attachment system so you are locked into their system. It seems like it is possible to do a mod to make Milwaukee attachments work but as far as I know that's it.


Other brands like the Ryobi Expand-It system are universally compatible and you aren't limited to a single brand and can find attachments significantly cheaper.


I have an Ego multi-head trimmer but haven't gotten any attachments since they are usually so much more expensive than other brands.

The Multi Head, or aka Power Head is required, and can be used to attach a variety of tools, such as this pole saw attachment. I highly recommend that you DO NOT buy the Multi Head separately. It is much more cost effective to buy it in a kit that includes a tool, battery, and charger. Each of those items are priced much higher if you buy them alone. EGO also makes a dedicated telescopic pole saw with a few more bells and whistles, however, it is not capable of additional tools being added. One of those bells and whistles is that it extends to a more useful length. Unlike most brands, EGO does not include an extension when you buy the Multi Head Pole Saw kit. That 31" carbon fiber extension will set you back an additional $87 each. Yep, I know what you're thinking. If you can find one still available, their previous 31" Aluminum extension can be found for around 20 bucks less than the carbon fiber, and I actually prefer it. I also recommend that you head over to the EGO web site and inform yourself about the tools and capabilities of the system before you invest in it, since it is not an inexpensive investment, and you are pretty well married to it once you're in their ecosystem. One last thing... never buy the batteries alone if you can help it. They are MUCH MUCH less expensive when bought with a tool and those kits go on sale at Amazon or Lowe's several time a year. I prefer buying them from Lowe's since the store is local to me, and if I ever have a problem with a tool, returns at my store are quick and easy, but NOTE that EGO tools (unlike their Kobalt brand) are only returnable for 30 days at Lowe's. That is store policy, however YMMV. My store took back a defective EGO blower, and when I told them I wanted another one they called over a manager and resold me a new one at the same sale price I paid when I bought the original, and did so after more than 2 months. That said, I have also purchased attachments and extensions from Amazon when they are on sale at the right price.
