Ive stuck by Civ V for well over 14 years. Someone who has alot of XP with both, tell me...are the early growing pains of VI worked out? tia.
I've been playing Civ games since 1991 when I played the original. Played a ton of hours on all of them including of course Civ 5. But Civ 6 is my favorite! It took me a bit to get used to the new districts feature, but it is by far my favorite feature! It adds so much depth to the game. It's very satisfying to play. The expansions are great, but you definitely don't need them to enjoy the game. In fact I suggest just playing it without any expansion packs, so you can learn the basic game mechanics first.

Oh yes, absolutely. I enjoyed Civ V for a looooong time, but VI is in an amazing place now, especially if you have the expansions IMO. I think I have like 2000 hours of game-time, which is super exaggerated, since I often just leave it open, but I've played it a lot. Secret Societies is one of my favorite features, so check that out if you are interested.

For CIv6, I would skip this and try to go for a more complete version. FWIW, Epic has given it away before so maybe they do again.
